This year’s competition started on the 1st March 2010, and the blind tasting was conducted over a period of four days at Mandela Rhodes Place.
Winners were invited to an exclusive dinner and awards ceremony, which was held on Friday, 5th March 2010 at the newly opened TAJ HOTEL.
PRIZES
- Only 17 medals were awarded, which ensures a legitimate and worthy winner of each medal .La Revue du VIN de France, the leading French wine publication, covered the event and ensured an international spotlight on the competition
- GQ magazine also selected their GQ Wine Award from amongst the medal winners, and their coverage of the competition ensured substantial awareness for winners within the lifestyle media
The CLASSIC WINE TROPHY was given to the most iconic wine entry. This accolade rewarded the winemaker for patience and excellence, two essential qualities that make a classic wine. As it matures in bottle, the winning wine will become a cult of its own as it garners awareness and respect through the local and international wine media.
Unlike other competitions, the CLASSIC WINE TROPHY only awards 5 trophies, 10 gold medals for red wines, 5 gold medals for dry white wines, 1 gold medal for dessert wines and 1 for sparkling wines.
The overall winner also received a return air ticket to France.
